Three things about the Iowa Republican Caucus: Only an additional 3% of voters showed up compared to the 2008 Caucus*, which somewhat deflates the media’s rabble-rousing about how fired up the GOP base is to defeat Obama. (Credit to @RealJohnGreen for pointing that out.) Buddy Roemer is running for President?!? He’s a former US Congressman and Louisiana Governor. As a teenager I bought a pair of black and shiny metallic checkerboard hi-top converse at a garage sale supporting his campaign. Buddy Roemer is now a Republican?!? I haven’t followed Louisiana politics much since I left the state, but I would offer Roemer as a decent candidate no matter what his party affiliation is these days. * Caucus numbers from NYTimes and AP via Google.
